DOE Recognized TAWELCO’s Efforts to Better Financial Management

Taguig City - The Department of Energy (DOE) reported that Tawi-Tawi Electric Cooperative, Inc. (TAWELCO) has been consistently meeting its payment obligations under the Financial Debt Restructuring Agreement signed on 15 December 2025 and witnessed by the DOE, based on a status update submitted by Kaltimex Rural Energy Corp. (KALTIMEX) during a recent coordination meeting led by Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara.

DOE advances 10-Year Green Energy Auction plan, targeting 25 GW of new renewable capacity by 2035

The Department of Energy is advancing a 10-year Green Energy Auction Program that will offer at least 25 gigawatts (GW) of additional renewable energy capacity through annual competitive auctions beginning this year, with project deliveries starting as early as 2027 and running through 2035. This scale-up will expand the Philippines’ renewable energy portfolio, strengthen long-term power supply reliability, and support national targets of 35% percent renewable energy share by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
