Following the “high alert” status declared by Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi, members of the energy family continues to mobilize their resources and manpower to expedite the restoration of power in the areas ravaged by Super Typhoon Rolly in Bicol (Region V).
The Energy Secretary has expressed his appreciation and thanks to the energy family, especially the people on the ground, for their committed efforts in helping areas affected by the two recent calamities that included Catanduanes and the entire Bicol region, the hardest hit by Rolly.
“The efforts of the energy family, especially our Task Force Kapatid is indeed very encouraging and highly appreciated, especially, by our Energy Secretary,” said Undersecretary Alexander S. Lopez, who chairs the Task Force on Energy Resiliency (TFER).
“You are doing our people, most especially, those in gravely affected areas, a great service,” he told the TFER members.
Through the National Electrification Administration's (NEA) Task Force Kapatid, brave personnel from various electric cooperatives throughout the country have sent contingents to the Bicol region to assist in restoration activities.
The NEA reported to Secretary Cusi that as of November 5, estimated the cost of Super Typhoon Rolly's damage to power infrastructure of 20 electric cooperatives is at Php 290,296,962.51 in the affected 13 provinces and 236 municipalities/cities. Of the 2,091,796 household connections, power has already been restored to 1,102,848 households (52.72%).
The DOE is still waiting for updated status reports from the other members of the energy family like the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and the National Transmission Corporation (Transco).
Meanwhile, the TFER is now also monitoring the situation and awaiting reports from the areas within the path of Severe Tropical Storm Siony (International name: Atsani), which is currently passing through the northern Philippines.

II. OIL SECTOR
Affected Regions: CAR, I, II, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, VIII and NCR
There is a sufficient supply of petroleum products based on the Minimum Inventory Requirement (MIR) in the affected regions. This is equivalent to a total of 22 days worth of supplies.

STATE OF CALAMITY
A State of Calamity (SOC) has been declared in the entire province of Cavite (1 November 2020), Camarines Sur and Catanduanes (2 November). Thus, a price freeze for household liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and kerosene products in this area is now in effect and will remain valid for 15 days upon the announcement of the SOC.
