​ DOE Promotes Consumer Empowerment and Protection at EJAP Webinar

“Everyone should be involved”, said Undersecretary Felix William B. Fuentebella who represented Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi in the webinar organized by the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) titled, “GUT FEEL: Ensuring Sustainability of Food and Utilities” on 11 August 2021.

TAGUIG CITY - Moving forward to Energy Transition with the current circumstances brought by the pandemic is certainly not an easy feat to achieve.   

“Everyone should be involved”, said Undersecretary Felix William B. Fuentebella who represented Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi in the webinar organized by the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) titled, “GUT FEEL: Ensuring Sustainability of Food and Utilities” on 11 August 2021. 

In his presentation, Undersecretary Fuentebella highlighted the important role of consumers, the mechanisms to ensure their protection, as well as the industry compliance that must be met in order to attain energy security and sustainability.  

“The DOE will continue to study and push for policies that will redound to the benefit of the consumers…because at the end of the day, we are all consumers,” he said. 

Undersecretary Fuentebella continues to call on the compliance of the industry on the policies issued and programs developed by the DOE to ensure adequate supply in the such as the Ancillary Services, Competitive Selection Process, and RE Policy Mechanisms like the Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP) and Productive Uses of Renewable Energy (PURE). 

The webinar also probed on topics on food security, telecommunication services, and consumer’s changing spending needs in times of the pandemic as presented by industry experts.
