The United States, with whom the Philippines recently signed a 123 Agreement on civil nuclear cooperation, will take center stage on the opening day of the Philippine International Nuclear Supply Chain Forum 2024 (PINSCF 2024), scheduled for 13 to 15 November 2024 at Solaire Resort North in Quezon City, Philippines.
This three-day event will showcase the nuclear expertise of five countries with well-established nuclear industries. Representatives from both public and private sectors in the United States, Canada, France, South Korea, and Japan will lead discussions on a range of topics, including cutting-edge technical innovations, best practices in operational and regulatory frameworks, and the evolving role of nuclear energy within their respective national energy strategies. These sessions will provide valuable insights into how each country integrates nuclear power into their energy landscape to enhance energy security, sustainability, and economic growth.
"The unique characteristics of each nation --- whether in terms of geography, economic development, or environmental priorities --- offer valuable insights as we build the foundation for the Philippines' emerging nuclear industry. This forum provides a platform to learn from the diverse expertise of countries with established nuclear sectors, enabling us to study and tailor our approach to meet the specific needs and opportunities of the Philippines," the Department of Energy said.
The United States has used nuclear power for more than 60 years. The country is the world’s largest producer of nuclear energy, which contributes nearly 20 percent of the electricity generated in America. Nuclear energy plays an important role in the United States’ overall energy portfolio, as the country – like many – attempts to reduce carbon emissions and address the threat of global climate change.
The U.S. delegation to the Forum will include nearly 20 American companies representing various sectors of the nuclear supply chain, alongside senior U.S. government officials. In addition to participating in event panels, the delegates will engage in matchmaking sessions with Philippine private sector leaders and others interested in forming new commercial partnerships.
To join the PINSCF 2024, members of the public and private sector, economic chambers, industry leaders, and members of the media may register through the forum’s official website nuclearforumph.com. [end]
