INFORMED AND ENERGIZED: Around 60 students from PhilTech - Tanay participated in the Energy Briefing conducted by the DOE-Consumer Welfare Promotion Office last Wednesday (23 October) at the DOE's headquarters in Taguig City.
TAGUIG CITY – Recognizing the role of students as powerful agents of change, the Department of Energy (DOE), through its Consumer Welfare and Promotion Office (CWPO), led an Energy Briefing for Grade 12 STEM students of the Philippine Technological Institute of Science, Art, and Trade, Inc. (PhilTech)-Tanay on 23 October 2019 at the DOE’s Audio-Visual Room.
The activity is in line with the DOE’s thrust to broaden public understanding on energy, its sources, as well as its efficient utilization, while bringing the agency closer to the people.
DOE-Oil Industry Management Bureau’s Mr. Alex H. Rayos and Ms. Aida Y. Parena gave an overview of the role their respective offices play in the Philippine energy sector, and shared their experiences as downstream oil industry professionals.
Meanwhile, Engr. Steven Ivan G. Caiña of the DOE-Energy Utilization Management Bureau’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Division discussed how the conservation and efficient utilization of energy resources yield energy and monetary savings.
DOE-CWPO Chief, Ms. Helen B. Arias, concluded the briefing with a presentation on the Department’s directive towards empowering the lives of Filipino, and highlighted the importance of STEM students’ potential as future innovators who would be able to help move communities and the country’s economy forward.
