DOE Joins the Celebration of the National Consumer Welfare Month

The Department of Energy supports the National Consumer Affairs Council (NCAC) in celebrating the National Consumer Welfare Month, held every October, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1098.

The NCAC is created by Republic Act 7394, otherwise known as the “Consumer Act of the Philippines”, to improve the management, coordination and effectiveness of the nation’s consumer programs.

NCAC members include the Department of Agriculture, Department of Education, Department of Trade and Industry, with the DOE and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as ex-officio members. From the private sector, NCAC members are: the Nationwide Association of Consumers Inc., Consumer Rights for Safe Food, Coalition for Consumer Protection and Welfare Inc., National Federation of Women’s Clubs of the Phils., Inc., Phil. Bakers Industry Group, and the Philippine Retailers Association.  

The National Consumer Welfare Month theme for this year is, “Health Product Quality, Efficacy, Safety and Transparency --- Everybody’s Concern.”
