The EV Eco Run was organized by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) in support of the passage of the EV and Charging Station Bill. Among the highlights of the event are the visit of EVAP President at the DOE EV charging station and DOE’s team participation in the Eco Run, wherein the DOE won the North Loop event with the winning time of 26 minutes.

TAGUIG CITY - The Department of Energy (DOE) joined the electric vehicle community led by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) in promoting not only the use of electric vehicles but also EV charging stations during the first EV Eco Run under the theme, “ Accelerating the Switch to EV Charging” held on 6 November.

Owners and companies with various EV models participated in the event to include Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Hyundai Ioniq, Dong Feng EX1, BYD Song, BYD e6, Nissan Leaf, Levdeo i3, Range Rover Sport, and Cherry E-van.

Participants in the EV Eco Run negotiated the predetermined routes to complete the required activities. EV drivers can choose either the North Loop (Land Rover in San Juan City, UNIOIL Guadalupe, and DOE EV charging station) or the South Loop (BYD Buendia, Nissan Otis, and ending in UNIOIL Guadalupe).

The DOE and the EV Eco Run participants continue to pursue the passage of the proposed bill on EVs and EV Charging Stations that aims to promote electric vehicles’ use and reduce our country’s reliance on fossil fuels.

The DOE participated PHEV joined in the North Loop and won the EV Eco Run with a winning time of 26 minutes. The awarding ceremony was conducted at the 5/F BGC Ford Building right after the eco run.

The EV community and EVAP officials were led by Mr. Edmund Araga and DOE was represented by Director Patrick T. Aquino and Director Pacifico A. Avenido, Jr. during the one-day EV Eco Run. Also, the EV group visited the EV Charging Station located at the DOE.
