Recognizing that energy fuels the economy, Department of Energy Secretary Zenaida Y. Monsada presented the activities being undertaken by the government in updating the Philippine Energy Plan during the Energy Policy and Development Program (EPDP) Conference 2016 on January 13 at New World with the theme “Toward Inclusive and Sustainable Energy Development.” Stanford University Professor Frank Wolak delivered the Keynote Message. Other notable speakers during the event are Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, International Food Policy Research Institute Professor Dr. Mark Rosegrant, and Kyushu University Professor Shunsuke Managi. As a gathering of scholars and stakeholders from here and abroad, Joint Congressional Power Commission Co-Chairperson Reynaldo Umali, former DOE Secretary Raphael Lotilla, Energy Regulatory Commission Chair Jose Vicente Salazar, UP Professors Raul Fabella, Maria Joy Abrenica, Rowaldo del Mundo and University of Hawaii Professor James Roumasset also served as panelists who provided insights on their area of competence, including industry policies and practices. Photo by DOE-Media Affairs Group
