DOE Participates in Powertrends 2019

INNOVATING THE PH POWER SECTOR: DOE-EPIMB Director Mario Marasigan delivers the opening remarks on behalf of Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi on the first day of Powertrends 2019, which was held on 3-4 September at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

PASAY CITY – The Department of Energy (DOE) participated in the 2019 Powertrends International Exhibit and Conference held from 3 to 4 September 2019 at the SMX Convention Center.

Organized by Leverage International, Inc., the two-day forum with the theme “Philippine Energy Independence: Riding through the Wave of Innovations”, featured discussions on the latest developments in the energy industry, particularly in the power sector.

“Each and every one of us in the energy sector are called to keep cultivating a strong desire for further learning. Each new idea, invention, and technological advancement which has changed the course of history stemmed from man’s constant drive towards wanting to make things even better than they currently are. Similarly, the energy industry would not cease to benefit from revolutionary concepts and innovations from fearless movers and shakers,” Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said in his opening remarks, which was delivered by DOE-Electric Power Industry and Management Bureau Director Mario C. Marasigan.

The DOE also highlighted the importance of strong public-private sector relations, especially in the formulation of proactive policies and regulatory frameworks that would help the country achieve its energy requirements.

Also present were DOE-Renewable Energy Management Bureau Director Mylene C. Capongcol; National Renewable Energy Board Chair Monalisa C. Dimalanta; Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines President Jose Mari T. Bigornia; former DOE Secretaries Zenaida Y. Monsada and Francisco L. Viray; Royal Norwegian Ambassador to the Philippines Bjorn Jahsen; former DOE Undersecretaries Jose M. Layug Jr. and Guillermo R Balce; former Office of Energy Affairs Executive Director Rufino B. Bomasang; representatives from regulatory agencies; and energy stakeholders, including project developers and local and foreign investors.
