Taguig City – The Department of Energy (DOE), through its Energy Utilization Management Bureau, joins the 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle (EV) Summit, themed “Spark the Change, Drive Electric,” organized by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP).

The Philippine EV industry is making significant strides toward a greener future. The expansion of EV infrastructure and the growing adoption of electric vehicles are evident, with the number of DOE-recognized vehicles now reaching 418 battery electric vehicles, 46 hybrid EVs, 58 light EVs, and 32 plug-in hybrid EVs across the country.

Parallel to the increasing demand for cleaner transportation alternatives, the supporting infrastructure has also seen notable growth. The number of EV charging stations has risen from 170 in January 2024 to 636 in September 2024. Additionally, battery swapping stations have increased from 4 to 349 in the same period.

This progress has been bolstered by the Philippine government's supportive policies, such as the enactment of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) and the establishment of the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (CREVI). These initiatives have provided a strong foundation for accelerating EV adoption and infrastructure development.
