DOE Hails 1st Philippine Floating Solar Forum

PASAY CITY – The Department of Energy (DOE) on Wednesday (4 September) participated in the first Philippine Floating Solar Forum held at the SMX Convention Center, as part of the agency’s efforts to further the development of the country’s renewable energy (RE) landscape.

“For years, the RE sector has been striving to contribute to mankind’s shared responsibility to heal the world. Great strides have been made, especially in the power sector where much of RE’s progress is concentrated. With the continued innovations in RE technology, which includes floating solar systems, the DOE is confident that RE would continue to figure dominantly in expanding energy equity and access in our country,” Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said in his keynote message, delivered by DOE Undersecretary and Spokesperson Felix William B. Fuentebella.

Organized by the Philippine Solar Storage and Energy Alliance, the Forum aims to promote discourse on the floating solar power technology to forge business opportunities and partnerships between the private sector and the Philippine government. It also aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices in order to attract more investments in this field.

Undersecretary Fuentebella expressed the DOE’s appreciation to PSSEA for the activity given the huge potential of floating solar installations in revolutionizing the Philippine RE industry.
