(Taguig City) Intensifying the development of the renewable energy industry in the country, Sec. Carlos Jericho L. Petilla is joined by the officers of the AQA Global Power Inc. after signing fifteen RE projects with a total capacity of 288 MW last September 2014.
Palawan and Lanao del Sur will host the RE projects with the latter being home to the large projects of 50 MW Lake Dapao and the 50MW Maitling River.
During the courtesy call of the power company, Sec. Petilla acknowledged their efforts in developing potential hydroelectric power (HEP) sites in the country.
“It is important that we have a supportive industry since energy development is essential for the continued progress of the country… without such interest or enthusiasm, we cannot fully utilize the natural resources of the nation.” said Sec. Petilla.
Moreover, the Renewable Energy Management Bureau highlighted the achievements of the Milestone Approach, which the Department adapted last year. The approach hastened the application process from 100 days to 45 days therefore making RE application processes easier for investors and developers thus, ensuring more successful RE projects in the future.
The projects in Palawan are the Bato-Bato Kaliwa HEP in Narra (12 MW), the Malasgao Kaliwa HEP in Narra (10 MW), the Inaguan River HEP in Puerto Princesa City (12 MW), the Culasian River HEP in Rizal (10 MW), and the Barabakan River 1 HEPin Roxas (15 MW) the Marangas River HEP in the municipality of Bataraza (12 MW), the Sologon River HEP at Brook’s Point (12 MW), the Busuanga River 1 HEP in Busuanga (8 MW), the Ilian River Kaliwa HEP in Dumaran (20 MW), the Ilian River KananHEP in Dumaran (12 MW), the Estrella River HEP in Narra (8 MW). In Lanao del Sur, Lake Dapao (50 MW), the Maitling River (50 MW), Baras River (30 MW), and Matadi River (27 MW).
