With a clear vision towards energy sustainability through efficient use of resources, Energy Secretary Zenaida Y. Monsada led the flag off during the Asia leg of the annual Shell Eco-Marathon (SEM) on 04 March 2016 at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila. The SEM promotes the skills and talents of young engineers through designing, building and driving energy-efficient vehicles, participated in by various Philippine college institutions, including Ateneo De Davao, National University, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, The University of Mindanao, University of the East, University of San Carlos, University of Sto. Tomas, and City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy (the only high school students team). Sec. Monsada is accompanied by DPWH Sec. Rogelio Singson, Royal Dutch Shell Chief Financial Officer Simon Henry, and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Company Chairman Edgar Chua during the ceremonies.
