DOE’s DREAMS Project Towards RE Program Gains Support of Iloilo Provincial Government

ILOILO CITY - The Department of Energy - Renewable Energy Management Bureau (DOE-REMB), led by Director Mylene C. Capongcol, visited the province of Iloilo on 13-14 August 2019 to provide an orientation on the Development for Renewable Energy Applications Market Mainstreaming and Sustainability (DREAMS) Project, and engage the local governments of Concepcion, Carles, Ajuy in follow-up discussions on their Local Renewable Energy Planning Processes, in partnership with the Iloilo III Electric Cooperative.

ILOILO CITY - The Department of Energy - Renewable Energy Management Bureau (DOE-REMB), led by Director Mylene C. Capongcol, visited the province of Iloilo on 13-14 August 2019 to provide an orientation on the Development for Renewable Energy Applications Market Mainstreaming and Sustainability (DREAMS) Project, and engage the local governments of Concepcion, Carles, Ajuy in follow-up discussions on their Local Renewable Energy Planning Processes, in partnership with the Iloilo III Electric Cooperative. 

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. reconfirmed their commitment to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the DOE to integrate Renewable Energy (RE) policies and projects in the provincial development agenda.  The provincial government further committed to provide co-financing, in kind, in the amount of PhP 23 million, to support the implementation of activities that will be carried out under the DREAMS Project. He also requested technical assistance from the DOE-REMB to look into the viability of Waste-to-Energy Technologies and the use of RE technologies for sea water desalination, especially for island communities. 

DREAMS is a five-year project of the DOE in partnership with United Nations Development Programme and Global Environment Facility.
