WHEREAS, the Philippine Government is represented by the Department of Energy (DOE) in several energy sector organizations in the international arena.
WHEREAS, these international organizations aim to, among others, accelerate the economic growth, social progress and cultural development in the ASEAN region through joint endeavors; promote regional peace and stability through abiding respect for justice and the rule of law; build a dynamic and harmonious Asia-Pacific community by championing free and open trade and investment, promoting and accelerating regional economic integration, encouraging economic and technical cooperation, enhancing human security, and facilitating a favorable and sustainable business environment; become a major location in ASEAN for high-value-added agro-industry, natural resource-based manufacturing, and high-end tourism; ensure non-resource-based industries are established in the sub-region; facilitate and coordinate the implementation of applied geoscience programmes in East and Southeast Asia in order to contribute to economic development and the improvement of the quality of life in the region; and promotes capacity building, technology transfer, exchange of information and institutional linkages for sustainable resource development, management of geoinformation, geo-l1azard mitigation and protection of the environment;
