DOE to Hold Talk On Safety and Health in Energy Sector

The Department of Energy (DOE), together with energy stakeholders, will be holding a conference to promote safety and health management in the energy sector of the country.

The “9th Energy Safety and Health Conference”, which is co-organized by the Safety and Health Association of the Philippine Energy Sector (SHAPES), will be held on 09 December 2013 at the Sulo Hotel in Quezon City. This is in line with the 2013 National Energy Consciousness Month (NECM) celebration this December.

Moreover, the event will highlight discussions among safety and health professionals and experts from different energy companies and organizations in the country on bolstering efforts to make the energy industry globally competitive in its practice of safety and health management.

“We always emphasize that the energy sector is one of the prime movers of the Philippine economy, and it is important to pool the talents and expertise in establishing a broader network of highly professionalized safety practitioners in the energy industry,” said Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla.

The DOE and SHAPES will also recognize individuals and companies with excellent health and safety practices and management in the workplace through the Safety Awards, which are yearly given since 2008.
