Vietnamese Delegation Conducts Study Tour on the Philippine Power Industry

(TAGUIG CITY) Representatives from the Vietnamese power sector are currently in the country to learn about the local power industry specifically on establishing a power market. 

The Vietnamese officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), headed by Vice Minister Hoang Quoc Vuong, and the Electricity of Vietnam Corporation (EVN), headed by Vice President Duong Quang Thanh, met with Department of Energy (DOE) Chief of Staff and Undersecretary Josefina Patricia M. Asirit yesterday (January 9) along with directors and division chiefs from the Electric Power Industry Management and Energy Policy and Planning Bureaus of the DOE to get an overview of the Philippines’ power sector. 

EVN is the largest power company in Vietnam and handles the production, transmission, distribution and trading of electricity in the said country. 

The delegation also met with the officials of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and the Philippine Electricity Market Corporation (PEMC) to know more about the local development in the power sector regulation and the experiences of ERC and PEMC on the process of building and developing a power market.
