April 29, 2015

(Taguig City) Energy Chief Carlos Jericho L. Petilla officially announced this morning (April 29, 2015) of his irrevocable resignation as Secretary of Energy effective on April 30, 2015.

In a press briefing held at the DOE headquarters, Sec. Petilla stated that his resignation was personal and that there were no external pressures that lead to his decision.

Based on the Department's ongoing monitoring of the power situation in Luzon and Visayas, the power supply for the remainder of the summer months will be enough to satisfy the projected demand requirements.

“I will not leave DOE with a problem hanging, that is why I made sure that everything will be fine once I leave… I need to acknowledge that our efforts came from the people’s mandate, their decisions greatly affected to the outcomes we are now enjoying.” said Sec. Petilla.

The Energy Chief likewise acknowledged that he is still waiting for the President’s further instructions.

As a personal advocacy, he requests the people to continue practicing energy conservation measures as a way of life and to contribute actively to the country.
