Sec. Cusi Congratulates NEA on ISO 9001:2015 Certification

TAGUIG CITY - Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi congratulated yesterday (9 February) the National Electrification Administration (NEA) for successfully passing the ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management System.

The recertification was obtained from independent third-party test organization, TÜV Rheinland Philippines, Inc. after a conduct of thorough audits.

In his letter addressed to NEA Administrator Edgardo R. Masongsong, Secretary Cusi commended the NEA’s consistent adherence to international standards that benefits the electric cooperatives, which consider the agency as the vanguard of countryside electrification.

“This milestone is another testament to the NEA’s solid commitment to exceptional public service,” Secretary Cusi added.

The certification has a validity of three years from 10 February 2021 to 9 February 2024, subject to annual surveillance audits.

Secretary Cusi also believes that the ISO certification will strengthen the links between standardization and enhanced public sector performance.

"It is likewise a step forward in heeding President Rodrigo Duterte's clarion call to streamline the bureaucracy and boost public confidence in the government," he added.

In the same letter, Secretary Cusi encouraged the NEA continue to lead by example in the implementation of world class standards for the other members of the Energy family to emulate.

The NEA got recertified after TÜV noted positive findings in the agency's management initiatives. Among these is the Pantawid Liwanag Program, which was established in partnership with the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association Inc. (PHILRECA) to help curb the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on marginalized consumers of electric cooperatives.
