Doe reaffirms campaign on Energy Efficiency

May 7, 2015

As part of the Government’s proactive approach on energy utilization, the Department of Energy reminds the public on the importance of energy efficiency and conservation as the country crosses the summer months.

With the Luzon grid already recording its highest demand to date this year at 8,791MW last May 6 at 2:08PM, the DOE enjoins everyone to practice energy efficiency. The Department has sought support for the turning of cooling systems to 25 degrees Celsius particularly during the weekday peak hours (10AM - 2PM) in Luzon.

The Department notes that this undertaking if done collectively by all establishments and homes, can potentially decrease the energy demands in significant levels therefore, reducing possibilities of power situations from happening at this time of the year.

Sec. Petilla said that the 25 degrees feel is relatively comfortable if compared with the 32 degrees feel outside.

The Department will continue to coordinate with all concerned agencies and calls the public to be more responsible energy consumers.
