DOE, PNOC-RC renews advocacy on solar power utilization

(Taguig City) With the growing interest of the nation on renewable energy technologies together with the government’s call on sustainable development, the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Philippine National Oil Company – Renewables Corporation (PNOC-RC) holds the 2014 Solar Expo at the DOE headquarters in December 11, 2014.

 National Energy Consciousness Month Chairperson, Asec. Jose Raymund A. Acol during his keynote message highlighted the Department’s commitment in finding solutions to broaden the assistance of the government in propagating RE technologies particularly solar to reach a wider audience.

 “Solar technology is another great marvel in the continuous development of the Philippine Energy Sector. Its presence in the industry will usher a new chapter that will ensure the gradual greening of power generation and ensure a more sustainable future for the nation.” said Asec Acol.

 He further noted of Sec. Petilla’s recent programs that concern solar power such as the Household Electrification Program (HEP) and the Solar Rooftop Facilities in Academic Institutions. Last Wednesday, Sec. Petilla was present during the inauguration of the 96kW Solar Facility of St. Scholastica’s College – Manila. St. Scholastica is the third school that inaugurated their solar facilities the others were La Consolacion College – Manila and Manuel Luis Quezon University.

 The DOE will continue with its thrust of promoting RE technologies as we gear towards energy security and sustainability in the future.
