The Department of Energy - Consumer Welfare and Promotion Office (DOE-CWPO) in collaboration with the Department of Education – External Partnerships Service (DepEd-EPS) successfully conducted its Energy Smart Kids Information Education and Communication (IEC) campaign to 100 student leaders and advisers of the Department of Education Region VIII (Eastern Visayas) – Tacloban City Schools Division (SDO) last April 27, 2023.
The half-day briefing included lecture-presentations on the introduction to the DOE and the Energy Smart Kids Program, short videos on how electricity is produced and transmitted to everyone’s homes and the different sources of renewable energy, smart ways on the use of energy, and finally, an energy quiz. The participants say their Pledge of Commitment to serve as agents in providing powerful information on energy to their peers and eventually become “Energy Cost Busters” in their respective homes and schools.
There were 42 participating schools under DepEd Tacloban City SDO, namely: Palanog Elementary School, Kapuso Village Integrated School, Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Elementary School, Anibong Elem. School, Bliss Elem. School, Bayanihan Elem. School, Bagacay Elem. School, Cabalawan Elem. School, B. Bulante Elem. School, City Central School, Caibaan Elem. School, Camansihay Elem. School, Dr. A.P Bañez Memorial Elem. School, San Fernando Central School, Salvacion Elem. School, San Jose Elem. School, Rizal Central School, Sto. Niño Sped Center, Santo Niño Elem. School, San Roque Elem. School, Villa Sofia Elem. School, St. Francis Elem. School, Sta Elena Elementary School, Nulatula Elem. School, Marasbaras Central School, Lorenzo Daa Memorial School, Kapagian Central School, Manlurip Elem. School, New Hope Elem. School, Lucio Vivero Central School, Fisherman’s Village Elem. School, V&G Dela Cruz Memorial School, Sagkahan Central School, Scandinavian Elem. School, Panalaron Cenral School, North Hill Arbours Ingtegrated School, Tigbao-Diit Elem. School, Greendale Residences Integrated School, Utap Elementary School, Old Kawayan Elementary School, Ridge View Park Integrated School, Kapuso Village Integrate, Guadalupe Heights Integrated School and Mercyville Elem. School.
The EnerKids of the CWPO started in 2016 and since then become part of DOE-CWPO’s regular IEC activity.
