EnerKids Goes to Cebu!

The Department of Energy - Consumer Welfare and Promotion Office (DOE-CWPO) in collaboration with the Department of Education – External Partnerships Service (DepEd-EPS) successfully conducted its Energy Smart Kids Information Education and Communication (IEC) campaign to 120 student leaders and advisers of the Department of Education Region VII (Central Visayas) – Cebu City Schools Division (SDO) last October 26, 2023.

The half-day briefing included lecture-presentations on the introduction to the DOE and the Energy Smart Kids Program, short video presentations on 1.) Siklo ng Enerhiya 1 – How Electricity Reaches Our Homes; Siklo 2 -  Sources of Energy; Siklo 3 – Energy Supply Chain and the Philippine Energy Labeling Program; Siklo 4 – The Philippine Energy Plan, Smart Ways In Saving Energy for Kids and energy quizzes. The participants say their Pledge of Commitment to serve as agents in providing powerful information on energy to their peers and eventually become “Energy Cost Busters” in their respective homes and schools.

There were 29 participating schools under DepEd Cebu City SDO, namely: Talamban Elementary School, Kamputhaw Elem. School, Zapatera Elem. School, City Central School, Ermita Elem. School, Banawa Elem. School, Tejero Elem. School, Mabolo Elem. School, Basak  Elem. School, Don Vicente Rama Memorial School, Camp Lapulapu Elem. School, Pasil Elem. School, Alaska Elem. School, Regino Mercado Elem. School, Mambaling Elem. School, Pardo Elem. School, Quiot Elem. School, Tisa II Elem. School, Lahug Elementary and National School, Inayawan Elementary School, Punta Princesa Elem. School, Banilad Elem. School, San Nicolas Elem. School, Hipodromo Elem. School, Labangon Bliss Elem. School, Labangon Elem. School, Guadalupe Elem. School, and OPRRA Elem. School.

The EnerKids of the CWPO started in 2016 and since then become part of DOE-CWPO’s regular IEC activity.
