The Department of Energy is advancing a 10-year Green Energy Auction Program that will offer at least 25 gigawatts (GW) of additional renewable energy capacity through annual competitive auctions beginning this year, with project deliveries starting as early as 2027 and running through 2035. This scale-up will expand the Philippines’ renewable energy portfolio, strengthen long-term power supply reliability, and support national targets of 35% percent renewable energy share by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
More economically disadvantaged Filipino households are expected to benefit from the government’s Lifeline Rate Subsidy Program (LRSP) following the signing of a Joint Resolution by
the Department of Energy (DOE), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD),
and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) that institutionalizes the automatic registration and
availment of qualified Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) households.
